What is FUTA Impact Scholarship?

FUTA Impact Scholarship is a fund set out to provide financial assistance to matriculated degree students of the Federal University of Technology, Akure who have good academic ability but have difficulties with meeting the financial requirements for their studies.

The FUTA Impact Scholarship is a remarkable initiative established by a group of FUTA alumni and their friends. This scholarship fund aims to provide financial assistance to matriculated degree students at the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) who possess strong academic potential but face challenges in meeting the financial requirements of their studies. It is designed as a means-tested scholarship, with the intention of giving back to both the university and society as a whole.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS ABOUT THE FUTA IMPACT SCHOLARSHIP

The FUTA Impact Scholarship is open to all matriculated degree students at FUTA who can demonstrate genuine financial hardship. Applicants must not be receiving substantial funding from other sources and should be able to show evidence of their financial difficulties. There are no restrictions based on age, gender, state of origin, or religious or political affiliations. The scholarship is intended for students in the 200-500 level of their studies pursuing any degree course, and applicants should have a minimum CGPA of 2.2 (lower CGPA may be considered if poor academic performance is directly linked to financial difficulty or ill health).

Each recipient of the scholarship will be awarded a cash contribution of N50,000 per year, specifically for books and living expenses. Depending on the availability of funds, the scholarship may be renewed for a duration of 2-3 years for each recipient. However, eligible applicants will need to submit a new application each year, as their financial situation may change during their course of study.

An applicant should normally meet these requirements:
• Matriculated students of FUTA in 200-500 level of their studies and pursuing any of the degree courses.
• Have a CGPA of 2.2 or better (applicants with lower CGPA can be considered if it can be documented that poor academic performance is as a direct result of financial difficulty or ill health).
• Have documented on-going difficulty with meeting the financial requirement of studies
• Applicants must be certified to be of good character
• Age, gender, State of origin, religious or political affiliations are not considered
Students with no documented financial difficulties to a level that requires assistance are excluded from the award regardless of academic performance.
